Jeff Simon | Assistant Coach
Jeff Simon joined the Lawrence University men's basketball staff as an assistant coach in 2021.
A coach with a quarter-century of experience on the court, Simon began his coaching career at Fond du Lac High School in 1999 under Hall of Fame coach Dick Diener. Simon played for Diener with the Cardinals from 1991-95 on some exceptional teams.
Simon went on to the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point where he earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education in 2000. He also received a Master's degree in educational leadership from Marian University in 2005.
Simon, who has taught math and social studies at J.R. Gerritts Middle School in Kimberly, Wis., since 2000, was the top varsity assistant coach at Kimberly High School for 20 seasons. During his time at Kimberly, Simon worked with a pair of Hall of Fame coaches, John Miron and Lucky Wurtz.
With Simon on the staff, the Papermakers won Fox Valley Association titles in 2015, 2019, 2020 and 2021. Kimberly captured 18 WIAA regional championships and reached the sectional final 12 times. Kimberly made trips to the WIAA State Tournament in 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2021 and finished as the state runner-up in 2021. The 2004 state tournament team was led by future Lawrence star Andy Hurley, who graduated from Lawrence in 2008.
Simon also spent one season as an assistant coach for legendary coach John Mielke at Appleton East High School.
Simon and his fiance, Veronica, live in Appleton.

Brad Sendell | Assistant Coach
Brad Sendell moves from the court to the bench for the 2022-23 season.
Sendell finished a stellar three-year career with the Vikings in 2022 and finished as the program's career scoring leader with 1,605 points. A native of Pacific Grove, Calif., Sendell was the 2022 Midwest Conference Player of the Year. Sendell also was chosen for the D3hoops.com and National Association of Basketball Coaches all-region teams in 2022.
Sendell averaged 23 points per game in 2021-22 while shooting 48.3 percent from the floor, including 36.3 percent on 3-pointers and 78.4 percent from the foul line. He averaged 4.8 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game as well. After the season, Sendell was chosen to play in the National Association of Basketball Coaches-Reese's Division III College All-Star Game in Indiana.
A three-time All-Midwest Conference selection, Sendell earned a degree in economics and was National Association of Basketball Coaches Honors Court and Academic All-Midwest Conference selection.
Julian DeGuzman | Assistant Coach
Julian DeGuzman moves from the court to the bench for the Lawrence University men's basketball program.
A 2022 Lawrence graduate, DeGuzman won four letters for the Vikings and brought a tough and gritty presence to the court. A native of Chicago, Ill., DeGuzman played in 87 games for the Vikings and had his best season in 2018-19. During that season, DeGuzman posted career highs for points, rebounds, assists, blocks and steals.
DeGuzman earned a bachelor's degree in history with a minor in Spanish from Lawrence. He works in Lawrence's Admissions Office as an admissions counselor.
